Chemical process engineer

Chemical process engineer (senior)

Your optimisation and scale-up of our high-tech plasma techniques allows us to make the future of our food production more and more sustainable.

Your impact on a sustainable world

You are a chemical process engineer throughout and are always looking for more depth in your own field of expertise. Together with your team, you are responsible for the correct chemical process, to ensure the most efficient chemical bonding of nitrogen, produced by the plasma reactor, to water, in the form of nitrate. You introduce the chemical team to the overall development, by looking beyond the boundaries of chemical technology.

Together with the seniors from electrotechnics and physics, you take turns in leading the R&D process, to ensure that we get a qualitative and optimised product. Based on your professional expertise, you thus apply a broader view and collaborate with other disciplines to put forward a strong concept. You basically have the processes from various disciplines which blend in, so to speak, to be able to produce a machine that functions perfectly.

Your team

The chemical team that you will be part of, consists of a chemical process engineer and a chemical engineer, specialised in plasma chemistry. As a senior, you involve two colleagues in the overall development. As a team, you will be part of the multi-disciplinary development team, having physicists, physical and electrotechnical engineers, as well as (micro)biologists, as colleagues. Regarding these four fields of expertise, we implement all the developments; these fields of expertise will be combined in each application.

At VitalFluid, a team of some 30 colleagues are working in an open and approachable atmosphere. A place where you will be given all the freedom, to take full advantage of your creative and innovative potential. ‘Creavation’ is an important value to us, and it represents the perfect merger of creativity and innovation. We are doers, hard workers who are very well able to handle hard deadlines. Your enterprising character perfectly fits this team of pioneers. Our nationalities and backgrounds are quite diverse, which is great for our innovation. Because this way, everything will be viewed from different perspectives, to come to the best results. We are all quite different but have one thing in common: our love for cheese straws and other snacks to go with drinks.

The VitalFluid benefits

A real opportunity to improve both the world and you. You will be working on the greatest innovations, and we will give you the opportunity to continuously develop yourself. You will receive:

  • A gross salary starting from € 4,000 to € 5,500 per month
  • 35 holidays and 8% holiday allowance
  • A laptop
  • Commuting allowance should you take the car or bike to the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, or a public transport travel pass.
Your passion for technology

You are a generalist, who also has an eye for detail. You will ask the right questions, based on your natural curiosity, to gather all the necessary information. You are keen on this type of puzzles, making you put things together. You are not afraid to speak your mind and truly stand for the product. Additionally:

  • You have a master’s degree in chemical education and at least 5 years of experience in, for instance, process chemistry.
  • You have had about 2 years of experience with managing chemical processes/projects and are therefore comfortable with project management and have gained some knowledge about other disciplines involved.
  • You can be a sparring partner for the other disciplines as you are able to oversee the consequences of decisions and are thus able to challenge people to make the right choices.
  • It would be great if you have some knowledge about plasma systems, but this is not a requirement.
  • You are interested in studying the other disciplines, like physics, electrotechnology and software.

You live in the Netherlands or Belgium.

VitalFluid, the global knowledge centre for plasma technology

We are working on a relatively new phenomenon, where Plasma Activated water (PAW) is produced using just water, air, and electricity. Based on our varied know-how, together we develop high tech applications in the area of PAW. In doing this, we simulate a natural principle: if lightning strikes water, the water is temporarily given a disinfecting function and a little nitrogen is added to the water. The nutritious and purifying ‘growth water’ emerging here, is quite a suitable alternative for chemical pesticides and polluting fertiliser. This way we want to help realising our CO2-reduction and reach the objective of growing our food biologically for at least 25% in 2030, while using 50% fewer pesticides.
Our team of 30 thus commits to a better world. We have the ambition to develop our Plasma-technology even further, so over the period to come, we will grow as an organisation.
We are keen to add (technical) specialists to our team, who are looking forward to making the world greener, together with us.
